As the school year ended, Lennon’s kindergarten class celebrated with a field trip to the picturesque Port Dalhousie. We are so lucky to have this quaint lakeside town right around the corner from us, with its vintage charm and family-friendly activities, it provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable day.
The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the historic carousel. Built in 1905, this beautifully preserved ride offers a nostalgic experience for visitors of all ages. Lennon, with her infectious enthusiasm, was thrilled to choose her favourite lion and ride the carousel multiple times. The joy on her face as the carousel spun around was priceless. The gentle breeze, the music, and the vibrant colours of the carousel animals created a magical experience that Lennon will cherish for years to come.
After the carousel rides, Lennon and her classmates headed to the playground. Designed to accommodate children of all
abilities, this playground has long been a favourite spot for Lennon, and us! She particularly loved the swings, where she could soar high into the sky, her laughter ringing out over the playground. The
inclusive design of the playground meant that all the children could play together including Lennon and her
Stretto, fostering a sense of community and joy.
Her teachers set up a selection of retro lawn games that took the children—and the adults—on a delightful trip down memory lane. Lennon and her friends had a blast playing games like ring toss, egg races, and bean bag toss. The simplicity and charm of these old-fashioned games provided endless entertainment and friendly competition.
No trip to Port Dalhousie would be complete without a visit to the beach. Lennon and her classmates took a quick detour to the sandy shores, where the city had installed a
wheelchair-friendly path to the water (winning!) where they dipped their toes in the cool water and collected seashells. The serene beauty of the beach, with its gentle waves and soft sand, offered a peaceful contrast to the excitement of the playground and games.
Lennon’s year-end kindergarten field trip to Port Dalhousie was a day filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments. From the enchanting carousel rides to the
accessible playground and the simple pleasures of retro lawn games, every activity contributed to a perfect celebration of the end of a wonderful school year. As we left Port Dalhousie, Lennon’s face was aglow with happiness, already dreaming of future adventures in her
Stretto and the new experiences that await in first grade.
