Freedom is in the details. Just like happiness!

Accessories do not make up an entire wheelchair, but they make a huge difference in my freedom, independence and autonomy. I consider my wheelchair accessories to be some of the most important parts of my Stretto Quantum power wheelchair.

For example, I like having comfortable armrests. I rest my arms on them everyday. Their comfort, size, shape and material makes a huge difference in the use of my wheelchair. The gel helps to prevent pain, and it gives me good support because it’s solid and its surface can be easily disinfected. I can even pull them up for transfers or for better access like when I want to work out or clean.

It also has a little case where I can conveniently store accessories on the side of my power chair – this makes everything simpler when I need to access these things quickly. I don’t forget where I’ve put them last, I can access them with one hand, and open the case easily with its O-hook zipper. The inner storage space gives every object a place to go, and things don’t fall out and get messy.

My cell phone holder allows me to see my phone at all times and use it with only one hand. I can even charge it on the Quantum USB port while using it. It provides me with quick and safe access to my phone. Holding a phone in my hands also causes me pain due to my carpal tunnel syndrome, so this phone holder is a perfect solution.

The backpack hooks behind my power wheelchair make it possible to carry shopping bags and a backpack, without being bothered by them. They also hold my items perfectly so the bag’s handles aren’t damaged, like on most hooks. This also helps me feel more confident about my bags not being stolen.

I also have transfer handles placed on each side of my seat that allow me to make easy transfers to and from any surface. I can hold onto them when I grab an item off the floor while seated so I don’t fall forward. It also helps me to get back up on my wheelchair from the floor.

So when I say that my Stretto power wheelchair is synonymous with freedom, it’s all about those little details too. The accessories by Quantum are so well thought-out, and it’s what gives me a the lifestyle I want, and it’s not just a mobility aid.
