Lennon and her family had an unforgettable day at Port Dalhousie, a hidden gem on the shores of Lake Ontario. The sun was shining, the air was warm, and Lennon, along with her sister Leighton, were ready for a day of fun, adventure, and making memories.
The day began with a visit to Port Dalhousie Beach, where Lennon soaked in the sights and sounds of the shoreline, her
Stretto allowing her to cross all the different terrains, sand, beach mats, gravel etc. The waves lapped gently against the shore, creating a soothing rhythm that set the perfect mood for the day. Though Lennon loved the feeling of sand between her toes, what she enjoyed most was the fresh, open air and the view of the vast lake stretching endlessly in front of her, as her toes touched the water. We made sure she had a great spot in the shade, where she could relax and enjoy the breeze while she and Leighton, her younger sister, busied themselves making sandcastles along the edge of the water.
After some time at the beach, we made our way over to the Port Dalhousie
Accessible Playground, an inclusive space where children of all abilities can play freely. Lennon’s eyes lit up when she spotted her favourite swings, knowing it was a place where she could enjoy herself fully. Her favourite part of the playground was the big, comfy swings, where she could relax and sway, feeling the gentle motion carry her into a blissful state. With her sister by her side, Lennon and Leighton explored the
accessible equipment. The
Stretto’s narrow build and
iLevel made it easy for Lennon to explore all areas of the playground!
But the day wasn’t over yet! The final stop of our Port Dalhousie adventure was a ride on the historic carousel. It was a charming, nostalgic experience for the whole family. Lennon and Leighton chose their favourite characters, and as the carousel began to spin, the music filled the air, creating a magical atmosphere. Lennon couldn’t stop smiling, and neither could we as we all rode together, enjoying the simple yet timeless joy of the carousel. The best part? The carousel’s classic feel reminded everyone of old-time summer days, and at just 5 cents a ride, it was as affordable as it was delightful.
As the day came to an end, we packed up, ready to head home with sun-kissed skin and hearts full of memories. Port Dalhousie had given us all a day of laughter, relaxation, and connection, and we couldn’t wait for our next adventure. For Lennon, the big comfy swings and carousel were the highlights, but it was the time spent with family that made the day truly special.
