Halloween & Wheelchairs

Halloween & Wheelchairs

Halloween can be a very fun celebration and inclusive for everyone, including wheelchair users.

We may feel uncomfortable or left out as if this holiday is not for us because of our wheelchair. But quite to the contrary, our wheelchairs (especially power wheelchairs) are incredible opportunities for creativity and extraordinary costumes.

There are more and more brands that are creating costumes for wheelchair users that include the wheelchair as part of the costume and they are really safe and well made. There are also many ideas available on the web to show how you can create your own costume.

Whether we create our own or buy one, it is worth experimenting because we are in a unique situation of having our wheels with us.

Whether you feel like becoming a bus, a princess, a king sitting on their throne, or being a Transformer with the amazing features available on our Canada Quantum Rehab Power Wheelchair, all the possibilities are there!

I know for myself that since I have the new Stretto Edge 3.0, I can’t wait to use the interior tilt and the different positioning options as an opportunity to play Transformers. Whatever the look you choose, it is easy to become an impressive character and stand out.

I also realized that it helps to make our wheelchair shine and to become prouder of it. Also, in a way, it helps others to see our wheelchair as something cool, interesting, and beyond a tool or a mobility aid. I find myself lucky that our Quantum power wheelchairs are also very fashionable.

Just because I can, is enough for a reason to celebrate Halloween for me! I’m an adult in my 40s, and I feel it’s important to celebrate Halloween, if only just for the fun that it provides us! Halloween is an opportunity for me to have a lot of fun, celebrate with friends, do funny stuff and usually laugh a lot!

It creates great social gatherings and having my costume include my wheelchair in it, may help others become more comfortable with its presence around them.

Whether you want to make a costume for Halloween or for a Comic-Con exhibition, whether you want to create a full costume that includes your wheelchair or just put some rabbit ears on your head, all of those possibilities are there, and we should enjoy them!

I wish you a happy Halloween, my little pumpkins!
