I have been a
wheelchair user since 2017. There are many activities that I thought I would never get to do again due to the lack of accessibility. This summer I had the opportunity to go to an accessible camp for the disabled, organized by Multiple Sclerosis support groups.
It was beyond incredible!
Every activity they had could be done while using a
wheelchair, and the way it was accessible was making everything so easy! It was an incredible relief to experience that!
From the access inside the camp, the fire pit area, and the accessible beach with a ramp going into the water, everything was thoroughly considered for everyone’s needs.
The ability to do excursions in the woods on trails that are safe was relaxation at its best! Accompanied by my
Edge 3 Stretto by
Quantum Rehab, I felt safe and had a feeling of complete freedom! All those adventures were incredible!
The last time I went to a camp was almost 20 years ago. I have never been eager to participate in adapted activities, probably because it makes my disability more real. I now understand how much those adapted activities are part of the process of accepting and being in harmony with my disability.
Now that I’ve seen how beneficial it is, and how much those activities bring exciting and enjoyable fun into my life, I want to do more of it!
They also showed me how easy life can be without obstacles, and that my disability is not an inconvenience, but the obstacles are.
My
Stretto is my “partner in fun”, a tool that allows me to live even more, without the hassles of my condition.
From now on, I will definitely try every adapted activity I can participate in, because it brings even more “life” into my life!
